The European Track Championships behind Derny will get under way in the velodrome of Dalmine, Italy on July 3, 2005. The organisers of the event have announced the list of participants, which includes famous Six Day track cyclists Marco Villa, Matthew Gilmore and Iljo Keisse.

Participating will be: Corrado Serina, (Ita), Giairo Ermeti, (Ita), Marco Villa (Ita), Matthew Gilmore (Bel), Iljo Keisse (Bel), Steven De Neef (Bel), Lars H. Thomsen (Den), Michael Berling (Den), Andreas Muller (Ger), Christian Grassmann (Ger), Reiner Honig (Ned), Patrick Kops (Ned), Ivan Kovalev (Rus), Sergey Kolesnikov (Rus), Alexey Shmidt (Rus), Martin Liska (Slo), Jozef Zabka (Slo), Peter Jörg (Swi) and Giuseppe Azeni (Swi).

Axel Merckx gets second daughter

Axel Merckx's wife Jodi gave birth to the couple's second daughter Athina Grace just before the Davitamon rider left Belgium for the Tour de France. The mother and daughter are fine.
