The only alto appears early on in the day, kilometre 67.6, but there is some taxing terrain that follows. However, the 11-kilometre circuit in Santiago de Compostela, host of nearly a half-dozen stage finishes, should allow the sprinters' teams to regroup and crunch any gaps the escapees might have formed.
