Deho and Lechner win Gimondi Bike
Both set course records

Marzio Deho (Cicli Olympia) and Eva Lechner won the eighth edition of the Gimondi Bike in Iseo on Sunday. Both set record times. Deho finished in 1:19:49 and Lechner stopped the clock at 1:33:08.
The men's race was characterized by continuous attacks and counterattacks. In the first part of the race, Colombia's Leonardo Paez (TX - Active Bianchi) and Russia's Alexey Medvedev (Torrevilla Mtb Team) tried to escape. Paez suffered a puncture.
Then, Mirko Celestino, Pierluigi Bettelli (G.S. Scott Racing Team), Oscar Lazzaroni and Paolo Alberati took a turn off the front.
Eventually Deho, Bettelli, Alberati and Medvedev got a gap. Ramon Bianchi, Lazzaroni and Medvedev also appeared at the front.
Four kilometres from the finish, at the Cronoscalata della Madonna del Corno, was a crucial climb. Medvedev, Bettelli, Lazzaroni, Deho and Bianchi passed through in that order. However, by the time the racers reached one kilometre to go, Deho had assumed the lead solo. Medvedev caught up to him, but couldn't take him at the end.
Deho crossed the line first after 38.6km. Medvedev was second at 1:20:00, and Bettelli was third at 1:20:05.
In the women's race, Elena Giacomuzzi (A.S.D. Unione Ciclisti Caprivesi) and Eva Lechner (Team Colnago) broke away just nine kilometres into the race. They left everyone else behind.

Lechner, from Alto-Adige, launched the first attack to get a 1:30 lead over Giacomuzzi and Elena Gaddoni (G.S. Promo-bike). She rode the rest of the way on her own, gradually extending her lead and taking her first Gimondi Bike win in a record time. Giacomuzzi was second, as she was in 2002, with a time of 1:37:27. Gaddoni was third, the same place she finished last year, in 1:39:22.
