Organizers announced the first Ladies Tour of Qatar on February 8-10, 2009, close on the heels of the men's race set for February 1-6. The three-stage race will feature stage starts at the recently opened Museum of Islamic Art, the Qatar Foundation and the Camel Race Track. Fifteen teams, including five national teams and ten trade teams, have accepted the organisers' invitation and will take part in this inaugural edition. They will compete for 18,700 euro in prize money including 1,100 euro for the overall winner.
