With 18 WorldTour teams lining up for a criterium race down the streets of Adelaide the excitement is palpable as the start to the 14th Tour Down Under approaches.
Though the "Classic" won't count toward the overall standings of the race, the winner will get the chance to wear the ochre leader's jersey on stage 1 of the event on the 17th January.
Matt Goss (GreenEdge) and Mark Renshaw (Rabobank) will be hoping to get their 2012 WorldTour seasons off to the perfect starts on home soil, but with riders like Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol), Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre-ISD) and Daniele Bennati (Radioshack-Nissan) nothing is guaranteed.
