2010’s most successful team
Bob Stapleton’s team won 62 races last year – 24 more than second-placed Saxo Bank. As in previous years, there’s been a drain of key riders to other teams, including Michael Rogers, Maxime Monfort and the team’s most prolific winner, André Greipel. However, the team has retained the services of sprinter Mark Cavendish and his lead-out man Mark Renshaw. Newcomers include Danny Pate and Irish champion Matt Brammeier.
The big goal for 2011 will undoubtedly be Cavendish for the green jersey at the Tour in July. Given the sprinter-friendly course, Cavendish also has an eye on the World Championships in Copenhagen. Also watch out for Austrian Bernhard Eisel in the early-season Classics, Tony Martin in time trials and Peter Velits (a surprisethird at the 2010 Vuelta) coming up the rails in stage races.
