Leopard Trek

A new team with high hopes

When the new team was confirmed at the end of last year’s Tour, its structure quickly crystallised around Andy Schleck and his older brother Fränk. Eight riders followed the Schlecks from Saxo Bank, including the biggest hitter of them all, Fabian Cancellara. Newcomers to the gang include Linus Gerdemann from the dead-end Milram squad and Maxime Monfort from HTC_Columbia, both of whom should have the space and support to target prestigious victories.

The race programme is predictable: Cancellara will be supported by Joost Posthuma, Dominic Klemme and Martin Pedersen on the cobbles and then the team will coalesce around the Schlecks’ Tour de France campaign. Daniele Bennati will be expected to be in the mix for sprints, along with Robert Wagner and youngster Giacomo Nizzolo.
