BBOX Bouygues Telecom
Established: 2005
Run by the human quote machine that is Jean-René Bernaudeau, Bbox continue their quest to find budding young talent and turn it into success. However, their haul of just fourteen wins in 2008 and the loss of several big hitters suggest that the pressure could fall upon Thomas Voeckler and Pierrick Fédrigo for results. On the plus side Bernaudeau has scouted around and hired some of the most promising talent in cycling.
Star Riders:
Thomas Voeckler: Now 29, the former Tour de France stage winner is ever present in the European peloton, delivering consistently attacking performances, but with fifteen professional wins he’s the team’s most successful rider.
Pierrick Fédrigo: Like Voeckler, Fédrigo has both worn the tricolor of French national champion and captured a stage win at the Tour de France. His list of victories is enough to justify his position as a leader in the Bbox squad.
One to watch:
Yukiya Arashiro told Procycling “My dream is to be the first Japanese rider to finish the Tour de France”. A fresh recruit to the Bbox team for 2009 Arashiro is already setting an impressive precedent for the wealth of cycling talent that exists in the far-east.
