The morning session of racing on the second day of the world track championships saw history made as Leontien Zijlaard Van Moorsel's almost four-year-old record in the women's 3000m IP was broken. In a thrilling showdown between record-holder Van Moorsel and her rival, the record looked threatened but not certain until the very last moment when a storming final lap shaved off two-tenths of a second.

In other racing, Spain continued to dominate the men's IP and women's keirin qualifiers saw riders selected for the final this evening.

Evening session

The evening session saw medals decided in the men's 1000m TT, with a very high standard set by the top riders. There were also the Women's keirin finals, which saw France maintain its position on top. Finally, Spain continued to excel in the Men's IP final.
