- Emma Pooley (Cervelo Test Team) was busy at the front of the chases on the climbs throughout the stage.

- Cervelo TestTeam are at the front to protect the break by Pooley, whilst Amber Neben (Equipe Nurnberger) and Team Columbia move to the front to chase.
- Emma Pooley (Cervelo TestTeam) rode strongly breaking away on the climb and staying away for 45 kilometres.
- Madeline Sandig and Eva Lutz (Equipe Nurnberger) at the front of the chase of Emma Pooley
- Race leader, Amber Neben (Equipe Nurnberger) was towards the front whilst Pooley was away, with her team who were driving the chase.
- Ina- Yoko Teutenberg wins the stage into Lezignan Corbieres to take her 17th Aude career win and her second in 2009.
- Whitelaw (Vision 1 Racing), Schmidt (Team Flexpoint), Belvederesi (Gauss RDZ), Teutenberg (Team Columbia Women), Pooley (Cervelo Test Team). Ina-Yoko Teutenberg, was awarded the leader's jersey, although Amber Neben (Equipe Nurnberger) actually retained the race lead.

- Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (Team Columbia-Highroad Women) wins her 16th career stage in l'Aude, the most stage wins by one rider. Her win was enough to also take the race lead.
- Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (Team Columbia-Highroad Women) is the new race leader in the 25th Tour de l'Aude.

- Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (Team Columbia-Highroad Women) heads off on the short time trial, she finished fifth.
- Regina Bruins (Cervelo Test Team) was just half a second behind Linda Villumsen to take second place.
- Noemi Cantele (Bigla Cycling Team) was third, just one second behind Linda Villumsen.
- Linda Villumsen (Team Columbia-Highroad Women) is the Danish time trial champion. She used her skills today to take victory in the prologue.
- Olympic time trial champion Kristin Armstrong (Cervelo Test Team) finished fourth fastest on the short 3.9km test.
- Linda Villumsen (Team Columbia-Highroad Women) wears the first leader's jersey of the 25th anniversary Tour de l'Aude.
