Stage 7 - August 4: Altoona Downtown Criterium, 48km

Conrad breaks away to win

Team Rona report

Sarah Conrad of DeFeet/Cycles de Oro won the final stage of the International, a 48km criterium held in the streets of Altoona. Goldy's Heather Albert retained her considerable overall lead to take the race title.

The stage was aggressive from start to finish, with numerous attacks and counter-attacks. Sarah Konrad managed to break away with eight of the race's 30 laps to go. Four laps later, it was Andrea Hannos' and Meredith Miller's (TalgoAmerica.com) turn to escape from the fast pack and to try to bridge to Konrad. But Konrad held and finally crossed the finish line alone. A few seconds later Hannos out-sprinted Miller. New-Zealander Joanne Kiesanowski (Diet Rite) and American Rebecca McClintock (Trek/LSV/VW) finished together a few meters in front of the peloton. Rona's Amy Jarvis and Manon Jutras finished in the main field.
