Stage 5 - July 30: Qinghai Lake Hotel ITT, 25 km

Australian team report

By Brian Stephens, AIS U23 coach

Stage 5 was a 25km individual time trial over a pretty flat course with a bit of wind around at 3,200 meters altitude. The Australians didn't have a lot to ride for in this stage with no real time trialer in the ranks and no position to fight for on the GC so we tried to use this stage to recover a little for the upcoming stages. That is apart from the Aussie in the Marco Polo team, Glen Chadwick who acquitted himself well to run 6th and hold down 5th on the GC. The stage was won by American, Tom Danielson.
