Lampre wins rain-soaked opening stage
Jury decides to award same time to all teams for general classification

The Italian Lampre team took advantage of a break in heavy rains to power its way to the team time trial victory on the opening stage of the 64th Tour of Poland. A mid-day downpour soaked the short, technical 3 kilometre long course around Warsaw's Theatre Square, but let up for the teams who started early. Unibet.com set the fastest time of 3'46, and by the time Lampre hit the streets, they were able to power to a time ten seconds faster.
The good luck didn't last long, and the skies opened up on the later teams, drenching the streets with heavy rains. The race jury ultimately decided that the severe conditions were unfair, and decided to award Lampre's Fabio Baldato with the leader's jersey but have all riders at the same time in the overall classification.
