Randwick Botany Cycling Club welcomed back club member Shaun Higgerson to Heffron Park, after spending most of 2004 with France-based Bienvenue sur le site du CFC 07 - Credit Agricole team. During 2005 Higgerson will be seen racing with the Victorian based MG-XPower presented by BigPond team. The team is supported by MG Cars and Telstra BigPond and competed in the recent Australian Open Road Championship in South Australia.

Higgerson placed third in a high-profile A-Grade race on Saturday 22 January. Dave Tracey (Randwick-Botany/FRF Couriers) and Paul Rowney (Eastern Suburbs) broke away early in the 36km event, but were all together again at the half-way mark. Nick Wood (Randwick-Botany/FRF Couriers) and Rowney sneaked away during the second half of the race and stayed away to fight out a fast sprint. Rowney crossed first, followed by Wood, Higgerson, Tracy, David Stewart (Eastern Suburbs), Steve Orfanos (Sydney) and Nick Rathborne (Eastern Suburbs).

Andy Hall (Randwick Botany/FRF Couriers) was the star of B-Grade this week with a solo break lasting most of the 32km race. At one point Hall put 30 seconds on the chasing 22-rider bunch. He was eventually hauled back into the bunch for a bunch sprint to the line. Final placing were Arthur Driver (Penrith), Todd Dunn (Eastern Suburbs), David McHugh (Sydney), Roger Crawford (Randwick Botany/FRF Couriers) and Karl Bellemy (Randwick Botany/FRF Couriers).

Randwick Botany Cycling Club is proudly sponsored by FRF Couriers, Excelpro, Argon 18 Bicycles, Colnago Bicycles, Carroll & O'Dea Lawyers, Tenpoint, Vantage Freight Services, SMH.com.au, Parentini clothing, 3T cycling accessories and DS Labels. Randwick Botany Cycling Club conducts criterium racing at Heffron Park, Maroubra each Saturday afternoon. Seniors D and E Grade: 2.00pm and A, B and C Grades: at 3.00pm. Juniors: 4.00pm.
