Gorik Gardeyn (MrBookmaker.com-SportsTech) won a rare victory today in the 12th Classic Haribo, ridden between Uzès and Marseille. Gardeyn won a four man sprint ahead of Lilian Jegou (Française des Jeux), Alessandro Ballan (Lampre - Caffita) and Ludovic Auger (Française des Jeux), with Danilo Hondo (Gerolsteiner) finishing 38 seconds back in fifth, ahead of Thomas Voeckler (Bouygues Telecom).

The break had come from a much larger group of 23 riders that had escaped in the opening kilometres, riding out to an unassailable 10 minute lead by halfway. Auger was one of the strongest riders, and helped reduce the group to 10, then four: Gardeyn, Ballan and Jimmy Engoulvent (Cofidis). The latter was replaced by Auger's teammate Lilian Jegou, but Française des Jeux could not pull off the victory as Gardeyn proved too strong for Jegou in the sprint, with Ballan taking third.

The consolation for FDJ, whose Belgian star Philippe Gilbert won yesterday, was the fact that they occupy the three out of the top four places in the Coupe de France standings.
