Anne-Caroline and Lopes Win Titles

Season one of the UCI's new Four-Cross series wrapped up on the weekend with no real surprises. Both Brian Lopes (Fox/GT) and Anne-Caroline Chausson (Volvo-Cannondale) have dominated the series all year, as well as the previous year's Dual series.

While Anne-Caro won Saturday night's final, Lopes placed only third after getting caught behind both Mike King (Haro/Lee Dungarees) and Michal Prokop (Be-One) who tangled near the top. King still managed to overtake Lopes to place second. But it was a very happy 34 year old Bas DeBever (Be-One Team) who took out first place in the final, not bad for an old guy. Upset of the evening was Eric Carter (Mongoose) who crashed and was eliminated early on.

What more can you say about Anne-Caro? Winning almost everything she enters, Anne-Caro's only disappointment in the Four-Cross came at Telluride where she crashed out, and promptly ignored her doctors orders and won the downhill the next day.

In the finals, Anne-Caro won every heat, advancing each time to the final. Racing against Sabrina Jonnier (Intense Cycles), Aussie Katrina Miller (Jamis) and Anneke Beerten (Be-One), Anne-Caro took an early lead and didn't look back. Jonnier took second, and with that second place overall, while Miller and Beerten took third and fourth respectively.

Overall, the women's Four-Cross ranking is very similar to the downhill, with Anne-Caro winning, Sabrina Jonnier taking second, and Katrina Miller in third.
