NZ Downhill Championships - CN

Long Gully, Wellington, New Zealand, January 31, 2004

2003 Results    Results

The NZ Champion Pro-Elite titles for 2004 have been won by NZ's two most experienced downhill riders: Vanessa Quin of Tauranga in a time of 2 mins 16.27 seconds, and John Kirkcaldie of Wellington took the mens Pro-Elite - the only rider to beat the 2 minute mark finishing in 1 min 58.34 secs.

The difference between second and third place in the Elite Men's DH was extremely close - only 0.008s (8 one thousandths of a second!).

1 John Kirkcaldie 1:58.343
2 Nathan Rankin 2:00.876
3 James Dodds 2:00.884

If they were doing 50km/h over the finish line, then the Nathan would have been about 10cm ahead of James.

Also had some other very close finishes in the Elite class:

0.04s between Julian Lowndes & Tom Holland (11th-12th)
0.14s between Des Curry & Mark Johnston (6th-7th)
0.27s between Scott Sheldon & Craig Pattle (9th-10th)
