Cyber Monday is in its final hours, but I've found one last chance deal on one of the best smart trainers available. The Saris H3 Plus has a spec that is similar to more expensive indoor trainers like our best-in-guide choice, the Elite Justo 2 or the ever-popular Wahoo Kickr Core 2.

Right now, at Tredz in the UK, you can get Saris H3 Plus for just £279.00, which is an incredible 53% off the £600 RRP.

For US shoppers, there's a significant deal direct from Saris reduced to $479.99, which is a lesser but still decent 31%, and a saving of $220 on the MSRP of $699.99.

The Saris H3 is already our choice as the best smart trainers with the most impressive spec, and it ticks all the boxes for spec versus performance. Highlights include max 2,000W resistance, 20% gradient simulation, accuracy within +/- 2%, and a hefty flywheel for realistic inertia. At these prices, it's a great choice for riders looking for pro specs without the price tag.

Notably, when it launched, the H3 Plus was priced in excess of $1000, and you can now get that tech for under $500. Key features of the H3 Plus are its 20lb flywheel, which delivers precision balance, creating realistic inertia and giving a smoother, more realistic feel. It's Cyber Monday today, which means the conclusion of the Black Friday sales event, which has been running all weekend.

There have been loads of deals, some average, some good, and some pretty great. Our focus is on bringing you the best ones we can find, and peppering them into our Cyber Monday bike deals roundups.

Most deals from Friday stay the same until today, and elsewhere, plenty of new ones are released. This is the case at Sigma Sports, which has released a new EXTRA20 Cyber Monday 20% off discount code that can be used on selected and - crucially - already discounted items.

We have applied it to a few deals, and it just may result in some of the biggest deals of the whole weekend. We have found some monster savings.

Garmin recently unveiled its latest models in its extensive and arguably best bike computers on the market – the Edge 550 and 850. These new offerings sit just below the range-topping Garmin Edge 1050, and benefit from upgrades and some trickle-down tech.

For Cyber Monday, it's one of Garmin's older models, the Garmin 540 Solar, which has an incredible 38% off, taking it down to just $249.99, and a massive saving of $150 over the MSRP of $399.99.

In our Garmin Edge 540 review, we scored the non-solar version with an almost flawless 4.5-star rating. Our trusted reviewer highlighted its class-leading battery life as one of his many testing highlights, which, of course, only improves with the solar model on offer here.

For UK shoppers, there are no significant deals on the 840 Solar, but Amazon has the Edge 540 (non Solar) reduced to £250, which is a lesser but still decent 15%, and a saving of £45 on the RRP of £295.

The Edge 540 Solar is one of our top choices for the best Garmin GPS computers. It was our best budget model until being superseded by the all-new Garmin 550, but with this Garmin Cyber Monday deal, it has to be on the radar of anyone shopping for a cycling computer. With 38% off, this already great value choice is now even better, and a bargain buy worth grabbing this Cyber Monday.View Deal

The UK deal at Amazon is on the Edge 540 (non-Solar) model, and although it's only 15% and £45 off, it's still a significant saving. We loved the standard edition 540, and with the trend for massive cycling computers, we thought that the 540 was a small, premium computer that ticked all the requirements for the majority of cyclists.View Deal

Garmin states that the Edge 540 Solar will add an extra 25 minutes per hour from solar charging (in battery saver mode, during daytime rides, and in the best sunny conditions). This gives the already huge 60 hours in battery saver mode or up to 32 hours in intense mode, a significant boost. For comparison, one of our non-Garmin favorites – the Hammerhead Karoo 3 only has a 15-hour battery, and currently costs $418 at Amazon.

At this price, if you're after a Cyber Monday Garmin deal, then the Garmin 540 Solar won't disappoint.

This is the lowest price the Kickr Core 2 has been so it's prime time to get set up for a winter of indoor training. This model comes with Zwift's Cog, which is a universal system and means you don't have to install a cassette onto the trainer, with shifting taking place virtually in Zwift. View Deal

While it isn't quite as well known as the likes of Wahoo and Garmin, the Hammerhead Karoo is well up there as a contender for the best bike computer on the market right now. Hello everyone, welcome to Cyclingnews' Cyber Monday bike deals live hub. I'm Will, and I'll be your host for the rest of the day.

I've already spend the last few days filling our other live hubs up with deals, so if you've seen them already you'll be familiar with the format. If you're fresh, welcome - this is how it works:

It's that simple. Right, with that out the way I'm going to get my hunting hat on.

I'm going to start by doing a hitlist of my favourite deals of the weekend, if they're still available. First up, Rapha's Pro Team Gore-Tex Rain Jacket, which is incredible, won't be as good again, and still available in smaller sizes in the UK and US.

This is the best waterproof jacket I've reviewed while here at Cyclingnews, and I've tested a tonne of them. It won't be around again thanks to changing regulations though. View Deal

The best rear bike light on the market is still 41% off in the UK, and 30% off in the USA.

Magicshine's magnificent SEEMEE300 is our favourite bike light. It's got a comical 200hr battery life on eco mode, comes with really good mounts, has brake light functionality, and most importantly of all it is super visible. It has a downward facing LED that illuminates the road beneath you in an eerie red glow, making you visible from the sides too.

Considering all this light offers it's a wonder it doesn't cost double what it does at full price. With 30% off it's a mad buy. View Deal

Unusually, in the UK the deal is even better than in the US. Mine lives with me as a permanent fixture on my bike, and when I lost it (very sad day, that) I immediately replaced it. View Deal

While I often bring good news, sometimes this live price tracking does mean I have to shout about prices that aren't as good as they once were. My colleague, Tom, is a Torque obsessive, and found an incredible deal on a Park Tool torque wrench. It was previously 54% off at Amazon, but has now 'only' got a 40% reduction in price.

It's still a good buy in our opinion, but just slightly less good than it used to be, and lon longer on sale in the USA.

The safest road helmet on the market is still reduced, but selling out fast...

When I started doing live coverage POC's Cytal road helmet was available at just over half-off in the UK on Sigma Sports. It's still on sale, but the very cheapest model is all sold out, so it's my advice to pick this one up while you can still pick up 52% off, as the next cheapest is a less good (but still respectable) 30% off.

Market leading safety, combined with excellent ventilation and a lightweight package that sits comfy on my head. I'm a big fan of this one, but at full price it's a very expensive helmet. With this discount it's a great deal, but they're selling fast!View Deal

Competitive Cyclist has a tonne of Cyber Monday deals so I'm going to pick out afew of my favourites for my friends Stateside...

This is Castelli's deepest winter jacket, and I've used it in sub-zero conditions several times this year already. It features an inbuilt Polartec Alpha bodywarmer inside to keep your core toasty, but a fit that won't slow you down when you're going hard. Plus it's sunny yellow, which helps when it's grey out. I suspect a great many of you have got gravel bikes now, and the promise of one-bike-to-do-everything dream may or may not have been realised.

Personally I am of the opinion that gravel tyres should be relatively low profile, especially in summer. It keeps things fun and spicy.

At the very extreme end, especially for my all-road friends, is the Vittoria Terreno Zero, which is almost a road tyre in form, and a great option for riders who mix a lot of tarmac with well groomed gravel, and now they're 46% off in all sizes!

A basically totally slick centre combined with lightly textured shoulders, and sizes from 37mm up to a whopping 50mm. A really good option for high summer, and those who lean towards less gnarly trails. Also great for broken roads year round. View Deal

Actually, it transpires that a tonne of Vittoria tyres are on sale, so let's go through them all together, starting with the most sloppy, though to the ones for lovely dry road riding...

54% off Terreno Wet in 38c and 45c - As you have probably worked out, a tyre for loose conditions, with big, widely spaced lugs.

54% off Terreno Mixed in 35-50c - More of a generalist, and also great as a 'cross tyre in narrower widths.

54% off Terreno Dry in 38c and 47c - Approaching a semi-slick, with a closely packed centre of hexagons and more prominent shoulder lugs to help in the corners.

20% off Cora Pro Control in 28c and 30c - An all-season version of the very fast Corsa Pro cotton tyre, with more grip and better puncture protection.

20% off Corsa Pro in 28c only - A race tyre for high summer, with a Grand Tour winning pedigree, and fast by our own lab testing too.

Quoc's Gran Tourer shoes are a wonderful, and decidedly handsome, option for gravel riding. The lace closure makes them infinitely adjustable, and more easy to fix on the fly if you're away from a bike shop on an epic adventure. They are also, I'm happy to report, 25% off in sizes 38-47 on Competitive Cyclist for Cyber Monday.

Designed for all-day (and multi-day) comfort, the Gran Tourer features a heavily lugged sole so that when you are forced to get of and push your bike you can still hike with relative ease. The microfibre upper can stand up to a tonne of abuse, and laces mean you can replace the closure in a pinch with anything you can lay your hands on. View Deal

While we're on Quoc... it teamed up with Maap recently to bring us a special edition M3 road shoe, which you can get in pink (you should) or a lovely off-white if you're a coward at 20% off in a wide range of sizes.

My colleague, Tom, is a big fan of the M3 shoes, both these and the more vented Air model. Personally I love the aesthetic, and if I didn't have terribly wide feet I'd be in the pink pair in a heartbeat...View Deal

Importantly, it's not a jacket I particularly got along with, because winter here in the UK tends to be colder and wetter than this new breathable version of the Perfetto can handle.

Christmas is just around the corner (sorry, I know, it starts earlier every year), so I'm going to spend the next little while showing you things you can buy for a cyclist's stocking that they won't hate and just throw away...

First up, chamois cream, and Assos chamois cream at that.

The first pot of chamois cream is a real rite of passage for any serious cyclist. I have flip-flopped between various brands, but I think most riders have at least once enjoyed the cooling, slightly menthol-y kiss of Assos cream. It is far from unpleasant, though it's a surprise the first time if you aren't ready for it.

If you've suffered from saddle sores then chamois cream helps smooth the ride and stop chafing. Don't be shy, we all do it.

22 bucks for cream you put on your behind might sound a lot, but one tub lasts for ages (trust me, I've finished one). Use every ride if you like, or I use mine on big days only, but no matter how much they may protest I assure you that once you start using chamois cream it's hard to go back, and this is the good stuff, too.

I cannot ride a dirty bike, but I also cannot be bothered waxing my chain, so I spend a lot of time cleaning my bike. There are always bits I can't reach, but with some of these puppies no sprocket is safe from my ministrations... Yes you can use a rag, but they're harder to roll up into a nice neat bit of floss.

No they aren't on sale, but they are dead cheap. Use to get between the sprockets of your cassette, down in your rim brakes, and deep into the crevices of your rear derailleur. Really useful stuff. View Deal

I beg of you, if you're going to buy a multi-tool then buy one with loads of tools on it. There are few things worse than having a mechanical that you could have fixed, if only you had a T25. This one from Crank Brothers has everything you could ever need on the road, including a chain breaker. The only thing I can think of you'd also need to take, besides the obvious pump and levers, are tubeless plugs, if tubeless is your thing.

From the smallest 2mm that'll handle derailleur limit screws, through to an 8mm that can get pedals off, plus 2 common torx sizes and a chain breaker, all packed into a compact little toolbox in your pocket. View Deal

My Colleague, Tom, has tested a load of chain lubes (rather him than me!) and his top pick for drip wax is on offer now and a prime stocking filler. Drip wax combines the convenience of wet lube with the cleanliness of immersion waxing, and can also be used to 'top up' a waxed chain between re-coats.

It's no secret, this is a really good bike lube. It's not meant for really wet conditions, but it'll keep your drivetrain much cleaner than a traditional wet lube. Just give it a properly good clean before you apply it for the first time. View Deal

Ok, last stocking filler for now... And this one is universal, unisex, and gets used all the time by me - the Castelli Toe Thingy 2 (yes that's their name).

I use them in spring and fall when it's too warm for a pair of overshoes, but too cold for just shoes and socks. Especially if there's a little standing water on the road they can just help keep the chill off your toes, and they don't take 45 minutes to put on like most overshoes.

Keep these in your sock drawer for those days where theres a chilly start. They go on easy enough that they won't slow you down, and can even be layered under thicker overshoes for an extra warm setup when the cold really sets in.View Deal

Ok, here's one mostly for cargo bike riders - A massive, scary Kryptonite chain lock. I have one and it just lives in the tray of my cargo bike and makes it a lot more secure (as it's a high value target) and a lot easier to lock thanks to it being long and flexible compared to a D-lock.

It's not the most convenient lock to carry round as a daily, but for high value bikes, or for situations where you can leave the lock in situ, it's a great high security option. I used mine at university for three years straight and just left it on campus each night when I came home, and it was good as gold. View Deal

Another brilliant Kryptonite lock is on sale at Amazon, in fact it's the most secure U-lock the brand makes, needing a claimed 10 angle grinder discs to actually get it off whatever it's locked to. It weighs a lot, but that's the price of security.

Bike thieves all basically just use angle grinders now, so you need a lock that can resist them. You'd need 5 discs to get through the shackle here, but because the shackle cant rotate in the barrel you'll need another 5 discs to actually get the thing off. This should be long enough for the thief to give up, run out of discs, or be hounded away, unless you've locked it up somewhere very secluded.View Deal

Here are my favourite winter cycling socks from Hollow, they're not listed as on sale on Amazon, but they're ten bucks cheaper than on the Hollow website.

They're incredibly warm, extremely soft, and I cherish them every ride I use them. They beat merino into a cocked hat and when it's properly baltic out they're always what reach for.

These are cheaper than they are elsewhere and a real investment in winter riding comfort. Forget your merino, these beat them in terms of warmth and softness. The alpaca wool fibres are hollow and so trap more air, keeping your little toes more cosy in the frozen air. View Deal

There are lots of deals on the internet this weekend, and we've been hunting for properly good ones at Cyclingnews. Stay on top of them with our Cyber Monday live hub and Cyber Monday Bike Deals hub.

Our CN Labs testing project this year has seen us visit the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub multiple times for various test projects, whether that be in the wind tunnel testing bikes and wheels or carrying out aero side quests using a pedalling efficiency rig to test the rolling resistance.

Why? We're cycling tech journalists for a start, we're obsessed with this stuff, but we're also taking our best shot at carrying out some quality, independent testing for you, our readers.

To that end, we now have a collection of up-to-date data that we can use to highlight the fastest or most aero products we have yet tested, from helmets to bikes and wheels.

We have scouted the net for a range of deals on kit and componentry that have genuinely proven to be some of the very fastest, and you can head to our CN Labs page to read all of the results.

I'll caveat this by adding that bikes still need pedalling, you never see a bike racing on its own, and races and events are won by riders as much as equipment.

But fast kit is essential to be competitive now, if you're shopping for performance upgrades, but aren't sure where to turn, here's a collection of kit we have tested and, in many cases, raced on ourselves. This is competitive equipment that is right up there, within a few watts, with the best stuff on the market currently.

Don't worry if you're just starting out, and this world of cycling performance is totally new to you. My advice is to minimise any flapping or looseness when it comes to the cycling kit you wear, use the fastest tyres you can, and treat a spotless drivetrain with one of the best bike waxes or chain lubes. You'll be off to a good start with those three moves and save a load of watts.

US deals

The Cervelo S5 is one of the fastest road bikes on the market, and we found this to be the case in our road bike aero test.

This bike has a monster spec, with 25% off in 48,51 and 54cm sizes. It also has very quick Reserve 5-/65 wheels and a Dura-Ace groupset.

The flagship race bike in Specialized's range, the Tarmac SL8 with SRAM Red, tested as the fastest bike with a rider in our 2024 superbike wind tunnel test. Here, you can get it with a 15% discount, bringing it down to just under $11k.

This is one of the fastest aero bikes in the pro peloton. Canyon has discounts on a range of specs of the Aeroad for Black Friday, including this SRAM Force AXS spec with a power meter and Zipp 404 wheelset, although this spec is now only available in XS and S.

The Specialized Turbo Cotton is one of the fastest clincher tyres we have tested. This 320TPI version is for tubes only, and the 24mm size is the one discounted, but this is a good price for a very quick tyre, even if the spec is a little outdated. I'm going to include it anyway. View Deal

UK deals

One of the fastest bikes on the market, this S5 has just under 30% off in 51 and 54cm sizes. It comes with a Shimano Dura-Ace groupset and fast Reserve 52-63mm wheels. View Deal

The Scott Foil is another fast road machine that tested well in our aero test. This size small bike is 20% off and has the Syncros Capital wheelset as standard.View Deal

We tested the Artech 6.A wheelset in the wind tunnel, and it came out on top, that was the 'All road' version of the Artech, which is slightly wider and heavier.

These 65mm wheels weigh a claimed 1244g, which is nuts, and we reckon they will be on par performance-wise. It's still a load of cash, but there is a 10% discount.View Deal

Princeton make very desirable wheels, and these Wake 6560 Evo wheels were another strong performer in our tunnel tests. These 65/60mm deep wheels weigh in at 1453 grams, a very competitive weight for such a fast wheelset.View Deal

The Vision Metron 60 SL wheelset has been raced at the top level, and it was also a top performer in our CN Labs wind tunnel test.

Black Friday may be behind us, but retailers are still ramping up their deals ahead of Cyber Monday tomorrow. Yes, it's another day dedicated to deals. Are you entertained?!

Anyway, there are actually some useful bits on offer for us cyclists, including an array of electric bike pumps. And as winter has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, they're a far more appealing option compared to hand pumps when you've got cold hands and don't want to be fiddling around with your gloves whilst your ride companions wait.

If electric bike pumps aren't quite your bag, we've put together our list of the best Cyber Monday bike deals to peruse.

In the US, Amazon has the Cycplus AS2 Pro discounted by 32% at $87.99. If you don't need the power of the Pro model, the Cycplus AS2 Tiny pump is also on offer, down to $50.53.

And in the UK, the popular Muc-Off AirMach Pro is 35% off on Merlin Cycles, bringing it down to £64.99. Or if you want to get in on the same deals as our Atlantic cousins, the Cycplus Tiny pump is down to £76.49.

Electric bike pumps are a relatively new product, but they've quickly become popular, with some becoming staples in club riders' saddle bags or jersey pockets. The benefits are numerous; they take up less room than a traditional hand pump and require far less effort to use, which is great in cold weather when your hands aren't really working.

They're also much more accurate at achieving the correct pressure for your tyres, although admittedly, some last longer than others and obviously, once the battery is flat they are nothing but extra weight in your bag.

But, there are plenty of decent options around - we've included some in our best bike pumps guide if you want to see what else is in the market.

In the US, Cycplus is one of the bigger names, and the AS2 is the model that made it onto our best pumps list. Small but mighty, the AS2 Tiny pump charges in 20 minutes, and can pump tyres up to a maximum of 100PSI.

If you don't mind spending a little bit more, however, the AS2 Pro can pump tyres up to 120PSI, and it only takes 120 seconds to reach that pressure on a 25c road tyre. Which means that inflating bigger tyres to lower pressures - more in line with what we all use now- it should be a breeze.

In the UK, Cycplus is still popular, and among the cheaper and more reputable options you can buy. Then there are the options from Muc-Off and Topeak, arguably more recognisable brand names, but the products all share the same concept. And, on Black Friday, all cost under £100.

US deals

Called the Tiny pump for a reason, the AS2 Tiny is just 97g, ideal for shoving in your jersey pocket for emergencies. It can inflate two tires up to 80PSI on one charge, or one tire up to 100PSI.View Deal

Why I'd buy an electric bike pump this Black Friday weekend

Electric bike pumps are here to stay, whether you're a convert or not. But this Black Friday weekend, I'd suggest now is the time to try one out if you were on the fence. Sure, they're a bit more expensive than a hand pump (unless you're buying the finest Italian-crafted product, of course), but they also offer benefits over the old manual pumps.

For example, imagine you're on a 100-mile ride. It's mile 76, and you're tired. You've misjudged the terrain and gone out way too hard. The café isn't for another 5 miles, and you suddenly hear the dreaded hiss. Your tyre is flat. Now you could struggle with your tyre, swap or patch your tube if you're running them, and then try your best to get enough air back in the tyre so it passes the finger squeeze test.

If you're doing it by hand, you're unlikely to know what pressure you're pumping to, and it takes a lot of effort to get back riding. If you use an electric pump, sure you still need to change your tube and get your tyre back on. But then the hard part is over, and you can simply attach the pump to the valve and watch the tyre inflate without any extra effort. Magical.

Cycplus has a good range of pumps for different types of riding, and different battery sizes depending on how many punctures you plan on getting in a ride. Then there are brands like Muc-Off and Topeak, who are typically a little more expensive, but if brand name is important, it might be worth paying a premium for.

I've spent the last 48 hours (and counting) keeping our Black Friday Garmin Deals live hub ticking over, as well as our main Black Friday Bike Deals pages. This has meant a LOT of time checking for price drops on, mainly, Garmin smart watches. We've seen the lowest ever prices on the Epix, as well as great deals on the Forerunner models, but what I've unearthed I think blows them out of the water.

You may not have heard of the Quantix model before, because it is billed as a watch for seafarers, but within it, it holds all the same features as Garmin's other top-flight smart watches, just in an extremely classy titanium body, and alongside features like fish forecast and ocean navigation.

This is as cheap as this watch has ever been, as checked by the camelcamelcamel price tracking service, but more than that – having stared at very tactical-looking watches for endless hours – I think this is by far the best-looking watch Garmin makes.

Even if you don't own a boat...hell, even if you live hundreds of miles from a body of water, this is still a great watch. It covers all the functions for daily life that any good smartwatch should have, as well as running, cycling, hiking, rowing, skiing, golfing, surfing, and even indoor climbing. It's a very complete package.

You might think 'ooh, that metal band is a bit hefty for sports, though!', and you'd be right, but a silicone band is also included to take that weight off your mind.

UK: 20% off at Garmin ~~£899~~ £699

This isn't the latest model – that's the Quantix 8, which is also on sale at Walmart right now – but it's the highest tier model with the fancy titanium band, and it by far has the best discount.

It's not one that's graced our list of the best cycling watches at full price, but at the moment, it's certainly besting a great many options, not just from Garmin but across the whole smartwatch market.

Everything you need for an active life, but wrapped up in a visual package that wouldn't look out of place at a dinner party. It'll handle basically any sport you can think of, as well as forecast when the best time to go fishing is. Not many smartwatches can do that!View Deal

Why choose this over any other Garmin model?

I love what smartwatches bring to the table, but one thing that I think lets them down, especially in the mid-range, is that they aren't very smart. I don't mean in terms of tech, because they're definitely smart in the digital sense, but I mean smart in the visual sense. They look too 'Tactical Terry' for my liking in many cases, and I want a watch to look like a watch.

When you aren't charting the high seas, or running, or climbing, or even (dare I say it) cycling with this on your wrist, it looks like a relatively normal watch at a glance, and that's important.

It's also now cheaper than the Fenix 8, which itself is at a lowest-ever price right now, by $150, despite starting from an SRP that $100 more than the Fenix 8. Basically, you're getting more watch for less money.

If you want to save even more then the Epix Pro is an eye-watering 59% off, and even cheaper than the Quantix, but you don't get that metal band or solar charging. Or the fish forecast.

The GP5000S TR is our choice as the best all-round road tyre. It's fast, grippy, and long-lasting, and easily delivers all you'd ever want for a road bike tyre. The only downside is that they can be a little hard to mount, so make sure you have some decent tyre levers (check out the deal below for that). Competitive Cyclist has sizes 25mm, 28mm, and 32mm, but only in the Black walled variant.View Deal

This is one of the best prices I've seen on the GP5000S TR this year. It's only in the Black wall version, but in all the sizes from 25mm, 28mm, 30mm, and 32mm. Continental says the Grand Prix 5000S TR sets the standard in road tubeless-ready tyre technology. The brand also claims it's the lightest, fastest version to date and comes with increased puncture protection. The carcass of the Grand Prix 5000S TR features a robust construction that is designed to be impervious to damage and penetration from foreign objects.

The German tyre manufacturer also adds that it makes the GP5000S TR tyre a versatile offering; its BlackChili Compound is aimed to deliver the best balance of grip and rolling resistance in a road cycling tyre.

Our Cyclingnews Labs series testing of the best road tyres pretty much confirmed all the Continental claims, and we concluded that the Continental GP5000S TR was the all-road tyre that performed the best over various speeds. It might not have been the fastest in the tests – that went to the Vittoria Corsa Pro Speed. However, the performance of the Continental meant we were confident in labelling it as the best all-around race tyre.

There's also the small matter of the pro stamp of approval, and GP5000S TR has the joint title for the most stage wins in the Tour de France, used by more teams in the race than any other.

If you need a tyre lever to mount the GP5000s TRs, which can occasionally be tricky, then the Monkey Tyre Lever by Tru-Tension is the weapon of choice for me. There is also a Black Friday discount on the cream sidewall version, although we reckon that black sidewalls are a better choice for winter riding, as the lighter sidewalls have the potential to start looking dirty quickly. The reflective strip is absent from the cream sidewalls too, so you have lower road presence in low light.

Should you buy the Wahoo Kickr Core 2?

If you're looking to buy a smart indoor trainer for the winter(s) ahead, and you want something that's at the lower end of the pricing spectrum but with known reliability, easy to set up, and with WiFi connectivity, the Kickr Core 2 is absolutely worth considering.

There aren't many smart trainers priced less than this right now. In the UK, there's a deal on the Saris H3 at Tredz that's worth checking out while stocks last, but with the caveat that it's around six years old itself, misses out on the WiFi connectivity, and doesn't come with a cassette or Zwift Cog.

What's more, Wahoo is famous for its long-term software support, meaning the Kickr Core 2 will receive updates for many years to come and should last more than just a couple of winters; I know riders still using the first-gen Kickr Core they bought in 2018.

In our recent review of the Kickr Core 2, which, bear in mind, was considering the unit at full price, we described it as a "no-brainer," adding that it represents a viable option for "new adopters of indoor training or current users looking to upgrade from wheel-on trainers to direct-drive functionality."

We can only echo those thoughts and add to their sentiment at this new lower price.

The mighty Exposure MaXx-D is a cheat code for night time gravel riding, but here’s what I’d buy in the Black Friday sales instead

After work, test rides don’t stop here at Cyclingnews just because it’s dark (and cold… and wet). I’ve been testing out the latest Specialized Diverge in the dark, and while I’ve been crashing about in the woods, I’ve been illuminating my way with the ludicrously bright Exposure MaXx-D as part of my testing for my guide to the best bike lights.

It’s truly transformative, with its maximum brightness of 6,000 lumens and ability to automatically increase brightness the faster you ride. It’s allowed me to hit trails at the same speed as I would in broad daylight, and it has a battery life more than enough to cope with extended periods in pitch black… but for gravel, I don’t think you should necessarily buy one. It is amazing, but it’s frankly overkill.

For MTB duties, where the jeopardy is higher and the risk of a surprise tree is higher, I can see the appeal, but on gravel tracks in the forest, you don’t need one that bright. I do, however, understand the appeal of just getting the product with the biggest number. People buy diving watches that can cope with deep-sea conditions only to wear them in the shower, and I have previously purchased a sleeping bag capable of keeping me alive in the Arctic, only to use it (uncomfortably) in the mild British Autumn.

Happily, I can point you towards what you should actually buy amongst the sea of Black Friday Bike Deals, rather than just being a naysayer. Exposure lights are rarely on sale, but this year there are a couple of really fantastic options that I’ve been using alongside the MaXx-D; those being the dazzling Toro, and the slightly more pared-back Race model. The former is a little larger and a little brighter; if you are dodging trees and doing more technical riding, I’d go here, but most of you will probably be just fine with the Race.

Three giant LED bulbs, a 36-hour battery life, auto-brightening the faster you go, powerbank capability, a whopping 3,850 lumens, and a build quality that'll survive a nuclear apocalypse. The Toro MK16 is as bright as you'd ever need for fast, technical gravel riding at night. It's still expensive, but Exposure lights rarely go on sale, so it's really the best time to grab one. The Race is very similar to the Toro, but smaller. It has 2 LED bulbs instead of 3, and a max brightness of 2,650 lumens, but it still boasts all the same features as its larger sibling and the same battery life. If your nighttime gravel doesn't involve much singletrack, then this is the one to go for in my opinion. View Deal

Sadly, I've not been able to find a comparable deal Stateside. Competitive Cyclist does stock Exposure lights, though, just not these models. You still might find a good one though.

Why are these so good then, and probably more pertinently, what sets them apart from less expensive lights?

Let’s start with the build quality. Exposure lights are legendary in this regard. They’re as close to unkillable as bike lights can get, with beautifully machined alloy bodies awash with heat-dissipating fins and extremely sturdy (if a little fiddly to install) mounts. I’ve had an aftermarket mount fail on a descent, sending my beloved Exposure Strada tumbling down the tarmac at over 60km/h, and it was still on and running when I grabbed it from the path of an oncoming car. It needed some repairs, using Exposure’s also famously good after-sales repair service, but it didn’t die on me. I’ve also heard tales of people losing theirs on 24-hour MTB races in the wilderness and finding them on the next year’s event, still working perfectly.

Build quality doth butter no parsnips when it comes to actually seeing where you’re going, and both the Toro and Race are more than bright enough for the job at hand. The former pumps out 2,650 lumens, with the latter boasting 3,850, but these peaks are only reached in Reflex mode. With Reflex switched on, the light automatically brightens and dims the intensity of the wide, flood beam depending on your speed. More light when you need it on fast descents, and less on slower climbs, conserving battery in the process and keeping your hands firmly on the bars and not fiddling around for the button. It’s subtle, but effective.

Finally, there’s the battery life. There’s a bit of a learning curve when it comes to selecting the modes – you have to load in a package of mode options that the light remembers until you change it, then when riding, you can switch between the 2 or 3 modes you’ve loaded. What it means in practice is that on short rides, you can tune the light to maximise your burn time. Brighter on short rides, and extending out to a full 36 hours at the very extreme. And now, for the first time, charged with USB-C, rather than Exposure's proprietary port, meaning you can also use it as a power bank in a pinch.

The Black Friday sales are in full swing, folks. There are all kinds of cycling deals out there, and you may well be on the lookout for others. I'm personally hoping to spot a genuine deal on a bean-to-cup coffee machine.

The Cyclingnews tech team are on the hunt for deals. Stay on top of things with our Black Friday bike deals live page, and our Black Friday bike deals hub.

I like to scout out potential tool deals during sales; I worked as a mechanic for several years, and take a healthy interest in bike and hand tools in general.

I've spotted an excellent deal on the very popular Park Tool TW-5.2 click-style torque wrench on Amazon. Now, this deal is UK-specific, but I've found the best US deal too.

The TW-5.2 currently has a monster 54% off on Amazon UK, meaning you can bag one for £58.38. This is the cheapest the tool has been in over a decade on Amazon and quite possibly ever. It's also being sold by Park Tool's online Amazon store.

In the US, the deal isn't quite as sweet, but I have found a good deal over at Jenson USA on the same unit. If you sign up for Jenson as a member, which is completely free, you can then use the 'INSIDER' discount code, which is advertised on-site. This will let you bag the wrench for $80.76 with 20% off.

A torque wrench is the difference between hoping something's right and knowing it is. This is a great tool to invest in to ensure you're adhering to all manufacturers' torque specs on your bike.

A little on the wrench itself: The TW-5.2 is a small, compact 3/8" square drive torque wrench that covers a 2-14Nm range. Perfect for things like bolts on your handlebars and seat post clamp, up to a Shimano Hollowtec 2 crankset pinch bolt at 12-14Nm.

The unit is adjustable in 0.2Nm increments for accuracy and registers torque values for left and right-hand threaded bolts. It's backed up by a 1-year Park Tool warranty and comes with a tough plastic case.

This certainly isn't the only torque wrench on the market, but it's a very popular model with shops and mechanics as well as home users and is just a solid all-around torque wrench. I've used one an awful lot, and it's never put a foot wrong. Just be sure to zero it after use and try not to drop it or use it as a general ratchet tool.

The safest road bike helmet in the world just got its price slashed early for Black Friday - Now it’s an absolute bargain

The job of a helmet, first and foremost, is to protect your head. This has been lost somewhat in recent years as everyone realised they have huge impacts on aerodynamics.

The POC Cytal isn’t necessarily very aero, but what it lacks in that department, it makes up for in safety. It is, in fact, the safest road helmet that Virginia Tech – the industry’s leading independent helmet testing institution – has ever tested, receiving a 5-star rating and outperforming the majority of MTB helmets too.

At a full retail price of just shy of £300 or $350, it’s a helmet that, while safe, is likely out of budget for many of us. I’m happy to report that, while searching for deals with which to fill our Black Friday Bike Deals hub, I found the Cytal knocked down by over 50%, making it not only affordable but an absolute bargain.

Incredibly safe, very well ventilated, comfortable, and quite a good-looking helmet too. It's quite a package, and one that normally commands a much higher price, but at moment it's a steal, and the cheapest we've ever seen it in the UK. View Deal

Sadly the mega discount is UK only, though I have unearthed this very handsome special edition for cheaper than the standard model. Not a sale, per se, but still a good deal. View Deal

With over £150 off the price this is the cheapest we've ever seen the Cytal MIPS. Considering it's one of the newest road helmets in POC's lineup this is a bit of a surprise, but a happy one for sure.

We can all agree that the Cytal is safe by the numbers, and so probably a likely contender for our guide to the best road bike helmets, but is it actually nice to ride in? Happily, I’ve spent all summer in the non-carbon one, and can confirm it is ace! (The carbon model, strangely, is less safe and more expensive.)

POC helmets, in my experience, tend to be among the most comfortable I’ve come across, and the venting on the Cytal is wonderful for summer riding when the mercury rises. Yes, it’s hard to imagine now there’s a hard frost on everything and my fingers are numb as I type this, but it will be warm again soon. Luckily, POC has also stopped using white straps in favour of black, as the old white straps very quickly turned a kind of grey-brown with sweat and dirt; yuck!

Although catering to all price points, it's often the American brand's premium bikes that cyclists want to buy. Naturally, given their market-leading performance, they command a high price, but that's where the Cyber Monday bike deals come in.

In detail: Cyber Monday Trek deals

USA deals

Starting with a full suspension mountain bike that can eat up the really rough stuff, in the form of the Fuel EX 9.8 XT. This boasts 150mm travel at the front and 140mm at the back, thanks to Fox's Performance 36 forks and Float X shock. It's specced with Bontrager's own Line Elite 30 carbon wheels and dropper post. It's a serious bit of kit, brought down to a slightly more sensible price, thanks to the Trek Cyber Monday sale. View Deal

Moving onto slightly smoother ground, this Supercaliber SL 9.6 is still full suspension, but with 110mm suspension up front and 80mm via the Sidluxe 'Isostrut' suspension at the rear. Next up, we're heading back off-road to the Marlin platform. These hardtails are popular among amateur mountain bikers, for their stylish looks, impressive spec and excellent prices. There are a few on offer, but I've picked out this, with Rockshox Judy forks, Kovee wheels and SRAM's SX Eagle 12-speed groupset at under $1200.View Deal

Now moving away from bikes and onto accessories, first up, we've plucked out Trek's Circuit bib shorts, down by $40 in the final XS, L and 2XL sizes. We rate these as good bibs for shorter rides, but would suggest upgrading to more premium options if riding for longer than three hours on a regular basis. View Deal

A super budget-friendly pair of shoes from the off, this pair of Solstice shoes is perfect for anyone looking for a fresh pair of cycling shoes without spending big. At just under $45, you get compatibility with three-bolt cleats (plus two-bolt with available adaptor), velcro closure, a composite nylon sole, and a clever 'powertruss' sole design that boosts stiffness. For the UK bike deals, we're starting with a big one. A £4000+ saving is the headline grabber, but at a starting price of £15k, you're still looking at a high outlay. Regardless, you're getting one of the best bikes on the market, with a top-spec carbon frame, SRAM Red AXS groupset, Bontrager Aeolus RSL 51 wheels, and a stunning purple paint job. Who is Specialized?

Specialized started producing bikes in 1981 originally releasing two models, a touring bike called the Sequoia and the Allez road bike; the latter of which still features in Specialized’s range.

What put Specialized on the map was the release of the Specialized Stumpjumper later the same year. The Stumpjumper was the first mass-produced mountain bike frame and became synonymous with the rise of a new cycling discipline. As we've learned during our ongoing hunt for Black Friday and Cyber Monday bike deals, there are a handful of places to find Cyber Monday Rapha deals, with Rapha's own sale accompanied by resellers clearing out old stock.

Rapha's own sale has a combination of sale items at up to 50% off, and an almost-all-encompassing, sitewide 25% off, which gets stacked on top for even bigger savings. We've done the maths, so you don't have to.

This is the best waterproof cycling jacket on the market right now for road riding, and I've tested over 50 jackets in my time here at Cyclingnews. Thanks to changing regulations in the world of waterproof fabrics, it's also very likely the best waterproof jacket that will be available for the foreseeable future, and shortly, it will be totally unavailable. At full price, I recommend it over everything else, and with 1/4 off, there's every chance it's the best Cyber Monday deal of all.

This was a strong contender for the title of best budget cycling jersey in my big group test, only really beaten by the Van Rysel option. It's better made, and with this discount, it is a better buy in my opinion. If black isn't your thing, then there are 8 other colour options. It's got a slightly more modern cut than the brand's Classic Jersey, and it's a little less warm too. A really solid day-in, day-out workhorse piece.

The Pro Team Gore-Tex Jacket is a sublime bit of kit, but if you're on a tighter budget, then the Core rain jacket is still an excellent option, even if the Core II jacket is now out too. The cut is great, it's protective enough if you're only riding in the rain infrequently, and it's now about the same price as a high-end tyre. It does come in black, but this orange is very handsome and has the main discount right now.

Merino Base Layer

My colleague, Tom, rates this as his favourite summer-weight Merino base layer, but I'm a sweaty chap, and I use this all through the winter. In fact, I have two, and unless I'm testing another base layer, specifically, this is what I start almost every outfit with, except in high summer, and in the very depths of winter. The merino is very fine, so I never found it itchy, and it definitely smells less than synthetic options... though it's not entirely smell-free, so ignore anyone who says otherwise.

This one is a real winter staple of mine for those days where it isn't bitterly cold. The material is lovely and cosy, but the best thing is the giant rear pocket, into which you can stuff gloves, hats, warmers, a whole bunch of bananas, and the kitchen sink, without taking space from the three normal rear pockets. The giant reflective stripes don't hurt either, along with a comfortable cut that isn't too racy for long days out.

Jerseys like this are a bit of a new phenomenon in recent years. They are long-sleeved, but effectively made of the same material as a midweight summer jersey. They're perfect for higher-tempo riding in spring and fall before the chill sets in, but I've used the men's version as late as June and as early as August on cooler days, so it's really a year-round item. Light enough to make a perfect set for carrying in your bag for a commute, or a brilliant pair of bikepacking camp trousers that you can easily stuff into a moderately slimline setup. They're also decent to ride in, if the men's version translates across. An inbuilt belt takes care of the fit, and the pockets are on the outside of the legs and on the rear so as not to have your contents stab you in the leg with every pedal stroke. View Deal

If you like to pack a lot into your pockets in the winter months - gloves, warmers, snacks - then this is the jersey for you. Not only is it soft and cost, and not a hugely race fit for long days out, it has a giant full-width pocket behind the three main pockets into which you can stuff all manner of things. It remains one of my favourite features of any jersey I've tested, and I'm sad it's being cut for the most recent version, so get it while it's still around. View Deal

If you're after a great first cycling jersey or just want a solid workhorse that is going to perform well, look good, and not break the bank, then this is where I think you should go. It's well made, comes in seven colours, and has a more modern cut than the brand's Classic jersey, with longer sleeves. The fabric is also thick enough that it's useful over a broader range of temperatures than a pure summer lightweight option. View Deal

But who is Rapha?

Rapha was founded by Simon Mottram in London back in 2004. Rapha's first release was 'the classic jersey', a piece of cycling clothing that helped change the look and design of cycling clothing worldwide. Mottram's aim was to mix high fashion with high performance, and though he has now stepped down as Rapha CEO, his influence and creative direction are still plain to see. It is traditionally the best time of the year to buy electronics, and while that isn't necessarily true for every piece of tech, there are almost always discounts to be had on the more techy side of cycling accessories.

Wahoo has grown from a small player making a few bike computers to a giant of the space, and there are already great deals to be had on bike computers, indoor trainers, and other peripheral accessories.

Wahoo Cyber Monday deals USA

Still by far the best Wahoo deal of the Cyber Weekend. The Kickr Core 2 was recently was very recently released and it's a fantastic bit of kit. At $399.99 with the Zwift Cog and Click controller, this is the cheapest we've ever seen it. View Deal

If you don't need the multi-bike compatibility of the Cog, prefer real shifting to virtual, or use your smart trainer with apps other than Zwift, then Wahoo has the Kickr Core 2 at the same price, but with a choice of cassette instead of the Zwift Cog.View Deal

You can easily make do with a simple fan for indoor training, but if you want to have a better time you can get a smart fan like the Kickr Headwind. It'll either work as a dumb fan, or you can program it to increase power with your virtual speed, or more useful is to sync it with your heart rate monitor and it'll blow stronger the harder you ride. If you want the biggest screen possible for your bike computer then it has to be the Elemnt Ace. It's really very large, and has a larger discount to match, plus it has an inbuilt wind sensor so you can plan your attacks and KOM attempts on the fly. View Deal

If you're looking to buy a smart indoor trainer for the winter(s) ahead, and you want something that's at the lower end of the pricing spectrum but is easy to set up, and with WiFi connectivity, the Kickr Core 2 is absolutely worth considering. Welcome to Cyclingnews' roundup of the best Cyber Monday bike deals, a page with excellent hand-picked savings specifically for cyclists.

After a month-long buildup and a busy weekend, we're into the final day of the weekend of sales, and like a Christmas chocolate selection box, there's a mixed bag of deals still available.

Some Cyber Monday deals have returned to Friday's price, some stayed the course over the weekend, and a select few have gotten even cheaper this morning. But of course, a lot of the deals we saw this weekend have now sold out.

For those waking up in the US, the Zwift Cyber Monday deal, which brought the Wahoo Kickr Core 2 to its lowest-ever price, is a standout pick. Amazon's Garmin Edge 540 Solar deal with 38% off is another, while the 25% sitewide sale at Rapha (on top of existing sale prices) has created some incredible savings.

The cheaper price of $408.78 is no longer available, but we've kept the product here because it's still a good deal at over $100 off. Amazon's listed MSRP is actually wrong, so the deal is better than it looks.

If you like the look of the Edge 1040 Solar, but don't like the price, then this 840 offers basically all the same functionality but in a smaller package. That makes it lighter, with a smaller screen and a slightly smaller battery, but at the benefit of your bank balance.View Deal

There are plenty of things you can do to protect against that, such as buying big locks, ground anchors, guard dogs and high-security doors, but you should also consider Blink's outdoor camera system, which connects via WiFi and catches would-be criminals in the act. Having lost luggage recently, knowing your bike's whereabouts is a reassurance that you simply don't have without it. At 1200 lumens, you've got enough brightness for road riding in the proper dark. You'll only want more if you ride particularly twisty, fast descents often, or tend to ride techy gravel at night. It's no secret I'm a fan of indoor cycling, and I've covered the Black Friday weekend sales for the past six years, so like some sort of Zwift avatar Liam Neeson, I have a particular set of skills when it comes to knowing what indoor bike tech is good and bad, and finding relevant deals.

At the top end of indoor training tech, Wahoo's Kickr Bike (WiFi) is an all-singing, all-dancing machine, with market-leading power accuracy, fore/aft tilting, inbuilt buttons for steering and braking, and adjustable crank length to add to the long list of geometry-adjustable touchpoints. Wahoo's attempt at a smart trainer that mimics the movement of a real bike never really took hold. It's a cool feature, rolling back and forth by about eight inches and rocking side to side slightly, but it takes some getting used to. Still, it's cheaper than buying a standard trainer and a rocker plate. View Deal

To continue the Wahoo theme, one of the most popular smart trainers on the market, the Kickr V6 does everything well, without an unnecessary list of bells and whistles. The Torch Lace, similar to the Torch also featured here, is one of our favourite pairs of shoes at the moment. They've been cheaper than this in the past, but almost a third off some of the best cycling shoes on the market. The navy blue gets the best discount, but most sizes are still available. View Deal

A bit of a consumable part, the yellow cleat comes with most of Shimano's road pedals (except Dura-Ace) and typically lasts a year or two of regular use, depending on how much walking you do in that time. How long do Cyber Monday bike deals last?

This depends on the product and the retailer in question. In truth, most deals tend to remain while stocks last, but that's because most deals are just usual sale items repackaged as a Black Friday - and then Cyber Monday - deal.

However, every year, the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday bike deals are reserved for the Friday itself, the Monday instead, or the full weekend before returning to a higher price on Tuesday.

There's no easy way to know what those deals are, but a general rule is that if a discount was available before Friday, it should remain available after Monday.

As ever, if there's a particular product you're looking to buy, and you find it at a price you're happy with, we'd suggest buying it before you miss out.

Is Black Friday the best time to buy an electric bike?

Black Friday can be a great time to bag a bargain on an electric bike.

The cycling industry typically releases next year's models towards the end of the summer. That can leave vendors with surplus stock from the previous year's bikes, which they'll discount to make way for the next year's bikes.

Often, there's little difference between bikes year-on-year unless a brand has launched a completely new model, so you'll probably be getting exactly the same bike, just in last year's colour. One point to be mindful of at the moment is that some bikes are sold with older SRAM componentry that doesn't feature the newer and better shifter shape and braking performance.
