Great weather greeted everyone for the 8th and final round of the Sacramento Cyclocross series. Cool sunny conditions followed 3 days of rain adding additional challenge to the riders. Slick silty conditions and muddy run ups clogged riders pedals and reduced traction to nearly zero throughout much of the already tough hilly course.

Fairfield Toyota rider David Yeater got of to an early lead in the A's race, Attacking lap after lap over the Large barricaded hill he quickly opened an unsurmountable 1 1/2 to 2 min lead over the rest of the field. The race became a battle for the rest of the podium between Napa Velo's Dave Carr and Sacramento Golden Wheelmen's junior champion rider Adam Switters. Carr eventually got the better of the younger Switters to take 2nd, 2 mins of the lead pace. Adam who was using the race as a tune up for next weeks Junior Nationals in Portland Oregon. came home a minute later for the final podium spot.

The Master A's race played out in a similar fashion as Cliff Bars Sam Giles opened a quick and uncloseable lead over the rest of the field. Once again the race became a battle for the podium scraps with Fred Huxham eventually edging out EMS Climbing Schools William Irving.

14 year old Collin Samaan also riding for the SGW junior development team put in an impressive ride finishing very respectably in his 1st race with the A crowd. look out for him next weekend in Portland as he also bids for a junior title.

This race concluded the 8 round Sacramento Cyclocross series.

The 2003 champions are

Overall: David Yeater (Fairfield Toyota)
