Stefan van Dijk beats Belgian champion in Bazel-Kruibeke

Dutchman Stefan van Dijk (Lotto-Adecco) has won the Omloop van de Wase Scheldeboorden, beating Belgian champion Ludovic Capelle (Ag2r) by a bike length in Bazel-Kruibeke. Van Dijk, a new signing for Lotto this season, was the quickest of a leading group of 27 riders who had made the selection to contest the finish.

Afterwards, Van Dijk thanked his team for putting their faith in him this season, which he has now repaid with three victories (including two stages in the GP Erik Breukink). He now aims to ride all the "Flemish top races...Harelbeke, De Panne, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Gent-Wevelgem and Paris-Roubaix. So many childhood dreams are now possible," he said.

For Capelle it was a good result after a slow start to the year, although he still admits he is "not yet 100%".
