Wiggins leads quality Good Friday field
Olympic and world champion Bradley Wiggins (Cofidis) topped a record entry list for the 2006 Good Friday Meeting. He was joined by fellow Olympic and world champion Luke Roberts (CSC) and 2000 Madison world champion Stefan Steinweg. Plus top home stars such as Tony Gibb (Plowman Craven) and Tour de France stage winners Malcolm Elliott (Plowman Craven) and Sean Yates (In Gear).
It all looked like doom and gloom as rain held sway until lunchtime when the wonderful crowd, who had braved the weather with the riders and volunteers, got to see some great racing in the afternoon.
