Cyclingnews' European editor Tim Maloney and correspondent Christopher Henry are continuing their survey of the hottest bikes in the Tour peloton. And in part four of four bikes we have a look at some of the Time Trial bikes of the tour.

Michael Boogerd's awesome Colnago carbon fibre TT bike runs a Colnago Star fork on Colnago's high modulas TT frame. The stem and bars are both ITM Chrono's and Shimano's finest supplies the group. Wheels are both Fir's, with the front being an Antara and a disc rear. A Selle San Marco Strada seat does the duty for the short time of the TT. |

Here is the Look KG396 CLM of last year's TdF prologue winner Christophe Moreau, now riding for Credit Agricole. The KG396 CLM is directly inspired from track frames, being almost identical to it's stablemate the KG396. The frame specific fork design certainly guarantees that heads will be turned wherever it's ridden. Drivetrain yet again by Shimano.

CSC-Tiscali's Tyler Hamilton has a new TT bike at his disposal for the Le Tour. The frame is made from 6000 series aluminium parked on a carbon fibre Look fork. Vision bars and stem sit up front, although they are badged as Deda components. Dura-Ace are again the flavour for the drivetrain, and wheels are by Fir with Hutchinson rubber. Funnily enough, Hamilton didn't end up using the bike, as Jalabert liked it more (see below).

Lance Armstrong warming up on his Trek TT bike, just prior to the ride that gave him the Maillot Jaune. The OCLV HC carbon frame is the same one that Trek sell to the public along with the ultra-aerodynamic carbon Air Foil fork. And Shimano supply the drivetrain... again. Wheels are Mavic at the rear and Hed 3D on the front. Hed have also been supplying Lance and the USPS team with some time trial bar/stem combo's. |

These Shimano Dura-Ace Time Trial chainrings are specifically designed for triathlon and time trial competition. Plated with aluminium and nickel they are super stiff for improved power transfer. The thickness actually looks more suited to downhill mountainbiking than road racing, so it's no wonder they are so popular. And the etching lets everyone know what model they are. |
