Bikes of the Tour: Part 3

Le Tour 2003 has seen a number of new bikes and components rolled out, as well as minor tweaks to the already fantastic velos. So as we do every year, Cyclingnews will showcase the bikes of the peloton, bringing you the bikes that the pro's ride as they make their way around France in this centenary Tour.

Michael Boogerd's Colnago, fashionably detailed in the new Rabobank colours, has performed well for him this tour, helping him place inside the top 25 in GC at the mid-point of the Tour.
Boogie's bike is another of those running the new 10-speed Dura-Ace group, showing the world what to expect on retail bikes in the coming months.

In part two of the Bikes of the Tour, we had a look at Fabio Sacchi's CAAD7 bike, outfitted with Campagnolo's new Campagnolo Electric group.
The electronic group has made a bit of noise with our readers, so we decided to take another look at it.

Davide Rebellini's Wilier Triestina Karbon 2 bike shows off the cream of components from companies such as Shimano, Ritchey and Ambrosio.
One noticeable difference from the bike you get in the shops is the use of a 330mm-long Shimano XTR mountain bike seatpost.

Andy Flickinger's Ag2R Décathlon Penta Pro is one of the 12 bikes in the peloton sporting Campagnolo parts. The entire group and wheels all sport the Campy logo.

The first of two Time bikes, Thomas Voeckler's bike is built around the Time VX Special Pro frame. It is also one of the bikes using FSA's nifty-looking carbon cranks.

The second of the Time bikes belongs to Richard Virenque. Built around the same frame as Voeckler's bike, the main differences are in the Campagnolo cranks and Mavic wheels, with the Tour de France Ksyrium's once again in use.

Fred Rodriguez's Hercules RC frame, built from Dedacciai U2 aluminium and a Dedacciai Monobox rear carbon cage, is hung with a mixed bag of performance components. The use of Velomax Tempest II deep-dish tubular wheels stands the bike out from the crowd.
