More information regarding recovery of Armstrong's TT bike By James Huang Lance Armstrong's bike was returned to Police Photo ©: Sacramento Police Department The Sacramento Police Department confirmed today that Lance Armstrong's (Astana) one-off 'Livestrong' Trek Equinox TTX time trial bike had been recovered. According to a press release issued by the Sacramento PD, "One Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at 10:35am, a local resident brought Lance Armstrong's stolen Trek bicycle to Sacramento Police headquarters at 5770 Freeport Boulevard… The citizen wishes to remain anonymous. The facts surrounding how the person came into possession of the bicycle are not being released at this time due to an ongoing investigation." "I hear they found my bike Johan came on the radio and said it was found," said Armstrong, before talking about the day's racing. "It was a hard race in the beginning it was aggressive guys wanted to get away and get a break going. They made our life tough on the first climbs it was not an easy day. It was fast coming home ...all in all really tough." The team had also originally reported the road bikes of Janez Brajkovic, Steve Morabito and Yaroslav Popovych stolen as well, but Brajkovic's was actually later found in hotel storage. Morabito's and Popovych's bikes remain missing. We've yet to confirm but based on images obtained from the time of the recovery, it appears that Armstrong's bike was returned but without wheels. Trek team liaison Ben Coates confirmed that the bike did indeed have wheels installed when it was stolen but it remains unclear as to their whereabouts at this time. The Sacramento Police Department press release further states that, "arrangements will be made to return the bike to the owner."
