Snaaskerke circuit race

Snaaskerke, September 21, 2002

Report from Kevin Tabotta, with the Australian national team

Today was the first race for the Australian team after arriving in Belgium for the lead up to the World Championships. The 6 man team rode intelligently over the 90km, placing 2 team members in the break just 2 laps into the race.

Nic Sanderson and Ryan Sullivan worked hard for 75km in the group of 5 while the other team members covered all moves from the main field. Jon Clarke was riding very well but flatted with 4 laps to race and withdrew.

In the finish Ryan Sullivan made several attempts to escape the break but it all came together in the final straight where Sanderson used his track speed to comfortably win the sprint. The USA and Canadian National teams were also participating in this event.

An excellent team result.
