Wesemann takes another for Telekom
Hondo remains in yellow
It's been the magenta jerseys of the Telekom team that have dominated the Peace Race so far, with Steffen Wesemann taking the third stage from Knov to Polanica Zdroj in front of Gerolsteiner's Peter Wrolich. Third place was the winner of the first two stages Danilo Hondo, who keeps the yellow jersey with Wesemann moving into second overall.
Today's stage was not an easy one, with seven categorised climbs over the 191.3 kilometres. The first attack of the day came after 16 kilometres Arkadiusz Wojtas (CCC-Polsat), Krzysztof Krzywy (Mroz) and Scott Guyton (Flanders-IteamNova.com) escaped and built up a modest lead over the numerous climbs.
Guyton was the first to drop off after 93 kilometres, with Wojtas and Krzywy continuing until they were joined by Tomas Buchacek (Joko) at kilometre 125. The three worked together to hold a minute's lead in front of the peloton, which was being controlled well by the Telekom team. At 24 km to go, the gap was down to 45 seconds and Grzegorz Rosolinski (Servisco) attacked to try and brige up to the lead. He did so, and rode with Buchacek to the finish after the other two members of the break fell off the pace.
Telekom continued to monitor the proceedings until 1 kilometre to go when they finally caught Rosolinski and Buchacek, and things got going for a bunch sprint. Steffen Wesemann, Peter Wrolich and Danilo Hondo were the strongest, gapping the field which was led in by the still strong Rosolinski.
