Big Ring to Belgium: By bike to the start of L-B-L

For a hard core cyclist, there is only one way to travel to the start of a big spring classic - by bicycle of course! After her trip to the Amstel Gold Race last weekend, Ella Lawrence is at it again, this time taking a three day scenic trip from her home in the Netherlands to the depart in Liège.

"Liberation, confirmation and realisation" were the words Davide Rebellin used to sum up his three big victories this week. First there was the Amstel Gold Race, then Flèche Wallonne, and now Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Only a handful of riders have won the Fleche/Liège double, and no-one has ever won all three in the same year. Cyclingnews' Chief Online Editor Jeff Jones was there to witness each victory, and reports from Liège about Rebellin's amazing week.

US Postal Service's Floyd Landis has been given greater freedom to test his own legs in the early season, before returning to the duties of being a key support rider for Land Armstrong in the Tour de France. Landis has enjoyed the opportunity, and after solid performances in the Amstel Gold Race and Flèche Wallonne, he looks forward to Liège-Bastogne-Liège before taking a well-earned break. After strong performances in Flanders, Gent-Wevelgem and Paris-Roubaix, Juan Antonio Flecha is now the third-best Spanish rider on the World Cup rankings. His future ambitions in the Ronde and Roubaix remain sky-high, but Flecha knows his role as a domestique in races not perfectly suited to him, such as tomorrow's Liège-Bastogne-Liège, where he will ride at the service of Belgian Frank Vandenbroucke.
