Stage 9 - September 12: Xátiva - Alto de Aitana (Alicante), 162 km

This is one of the stages in which the public really turns out to support the race with no fewer than seven category climbs facing the peloton today. Its a rolling leg breaking day with a continual series of medium mountains that terminate with a special category ascent - three Cat. 3 climbs (Albaida, Margarida and Benifallim), three Cat. 2 climbs (Tollos, Tudons and Torremanzanas), and one special category climb, the Alto de Aitana, mark the day. The Aitana climbs from 700m to 1510m in its 15km, the Tollos and Torremanzanas both have their share of 12 percent plus ramps.
