Stage 9 - May 17: Policoro - Carovigno, 142 Km

A short, fast day across the windy heel of the Italian boot to Carovigno, near Brindisi in the Salentino region where Alessandro Petacchi took the stage and the Maglia Rosa in 2003 and the fast Fassa man will be looking for another win in the deep south of Italy. There are three 4.3km circuits to finish, then after Stage 9, it's a three hour, 350km transfer north.
