Stage 5 - Thursday July 11: Soissons - Rouen, 195 km

Soissons faces dead on into that pesky northwest wind from the English Channel; starting at 12:30, Stage 5 could be an occasion for an opportunist rider to go on a long solo break across the plains of northern France, but when the sprinters teams start their trains towards Rouen, where Jeanne d'Arc was burned alive at the stake in the Place du Vieux Marché in 1431, Stage 5 is almost sure to end in a massive sprint along the quays along the Seine River.
