Calcagni crowns Barloworld stronghold on Pino Cerami

Barloworld's Swiss rider Patrick Calcagni won the 43rd edition of the GP Pino Cerami with a fine sprint in a small-scale peloton of about 40 riders. Calcagni beat Italian champion Giovanni Visconti of Quick Step and James Vanlandschoot (Mitsubishi-Jartazi) in sunny Wasmuel, Belgium.
Barloworld's team manager Claudio Corti said after the race that "Both Calcagni's win and Gasparotto's in the Three Days of De Panne last week are significant for the team as it's important that we perform well in the European spring classics in the run up to the big tours. The team is in good form and ready for Sunday's Paris-Roubaix, with Baden Cooke's intent on doing well."
Barloworld put the stamp on the race with having both Robert Hunter and Daryl Impey in the main break of the day. The leading trio was away for 150 kilometres and gained a maximum advantage of 10 minutes. They were caught with 40 kilometres to go.
