Menzies crushes Nashville criterium

Stage 3 was held in downtown Nashville on a 0.6 mile course that featured classic downtown road conditions, along with a short climb. The tight turns made for a great break-away opportunity, owing to the difficulty of putting on a organized chase.
The main field allowed riders from the two most powerful and well represented teams, Karl Menzies (Health Net) and Caesar Grajales (Jittery Joe's), to roll off the front from the gun and eventually lap the field. Menzies would ultimately take the win with Grajales second, but most importantly both riders were able to get back 1.20 minutes of time lost on general classification in the Stage 2 circuit race.
For Menzies the result was especially sweet as he was able to take a solid lead in the points competition, meaning he will ride tomorrow's final stage in the green points jersey.
Nicholas Reistad of Jelly Belly took the field sprint for third.
The battle for GC going into the decisive Stage 4 road race remained with John Murphy in yellow followed by Neal Shirley at 19 seconds. Dirk Pohlman (Krystal) jumped into 3rd on GC, 39 seconds back, after Eddy Hilger (Juris/morepartnerincome.com) lost time due to an untimely flat late in the criterium.
