Baldato leads in Austria

Fabio Baldato of Team Lampre won the mass sprint in the first stage of the Tour of Austria, taking over the leader's jersey. The 39 year-old beat young T-Mobile sprinter Gerald Ciolek and Elia Rigotto of Milram.
"This was a perfect beginning for me and my team," Baldato said. "I hope that this will motivate my teammates Bennati and Napolitano at the Tour de France!"
The 130.7-kilometre stage consisted of four laps of a circle-shaped course. On the first lap, Jurgen Van de Walle and Morris Possoni got away. They built up a lead of about three and a half minutes before being overtaken by the peloton in the last lap.
The second stage runs for 194.9 kilometres from Mayrhofen to Salzburg.
