Passeron continues non-Italian tradition

Aurélien Passeron has continued the non-Italian tradition of the 36th Industria & Artigianato in Seprio. The 23 year-old Frenchman of Acqua & Sapone-Caffè Mokambo won the race over Moisés Aldape Chavez and Niklas Axelsson. The race has not seen an Italian winner or on the podium since the 2004 win of Christian Murro.

Passeron kept on his hot form that was displayed by his stage win in the Vuelta a Burgos, 14 days ago. The first-year professional demonstrated to be the freshest at the end of 11 circuits of 16.4-kilometres (180.4 kilometres total). Neither Mexican Chavez or Swede Axelsson could respond to Passeron on the final rise. 2004 winner Murro was the best Italian finishing, in fifth.

The series of Italian one-day races continues wit the Giro del Veneto, this Saturday, while France hosts the ProTour-ranked GP Plouay this Sunday.
