Despite yesterday’s downpour easing to a steady drizzle this morning organisers of the 2006 Tour of Korea decided to reduce the length of today’s criterium and remove the intermediate sprints in the interests of safety. To further reduce the risks on the slippery circuit times were not taken, meaning the general classification would not be effected.

With the result counting only for stage prizemoney and green jersey points, the GC riders spent the duration of the race staying out of trouble, while Jang Sun Jae set out with his Sang Moo team to strengthen his lead in the green jersey competition. Sang Moo did a good job keeping the race together and Jang finished the job off with a convincing win.

Team Nippo sprinter and green jersey contender Mariusz Wiesiak punctured in the final lap and finished out of the placings, handing Jang a 15 point lead in the points competition. Tomorrow the race returns to the mountains with a 180km stage incorporating 3 major climbs to 1,000m elevation.
