Another one for Nuyens

Young Belgian Nick Nuyens (Quick.Step-Davitamon) demonstrated that his win in Paris-Brussels last Saturday was no fluke by winning today's GP Wallonie today in Namur. Nuyens once again beat another young Belgian talent - Philippe Gilbert (FDJeux.com) - after the latter had attacked on the final climb of the Citadelle. Frenchman Jérôme Pineau (Brioches la Boulangère) took third.

"I'm happy, particularly because I won a race with completely different technical characteristics to Paris-Brussels. The G.P. Wallonie is a tough race, with numerous climbs to do in the last kilometres. For the World Championship, this race is a good test. I would like to take part to the World's."

On Friday, Nuyens will fly to Italy to take part in the Giro del Lazio with Paolo Bettini. "I was in Giro del Lazio last year but I didn't finish the race. I hope to do a good race this year!"

The 193 km race between Chaudfontaine and Namur was marked by a three man breakaway that included French champion Thomas Voeckler (Brioches la Boulangère). Eric Berthou (RAGT) and Grégory Habeaux (MrBookmaker.com). The trio gained 9 minutes after 80 km but was caught by the peloton with just over 30 km to go. With 15 km to go, a group of 25 riders detached itself from the front of the peloton, from which the winners came. Philippe Gilbert put in a strong attack on the final climb of the cobbled Citadelle de Namur, but Nuyens was able to respond and caught Gilbert with 200 m to go to take the win.
