Cuban missile triumphs in Newhaven; McCormack in control

Ivan Dominguez, Colavita Olive Oil, powered to the win in the third stage of the Tour of Connecticut beating Charles Dionne, Webcor, by less than a wheel in a spectacular 57 minutes 11 seconds after just over 30 miles of racing.

With speeds up to 36 mph, Colavita racked up their second win and kept team leader Mark McCormack in yellow going into stage four of the TOC in Waterbury tomorrow. The race "around the green" was fast and furious from the first lap as 87 cyclists from 22 teams jockeyed for position into swift turns every 1/8 of a mile.

It wasn't until the final laps that a break of eight finally stuck with Mark McCormack working hard allowing teammate Dominguez to draft off of his wheel and conserve energy for the final sprint. Mike Sayers, Health Net presented by Maxxis, was third.
