Girls in pink rule the day

Dede Barry (T-Mobile) and her teammates Kimberly Bruckner and Kristen Armstrong went one, two, three in the individual time trial at Tour de L'Aude today. An amazing ride by the trio in pink resulted in Barry taking back the yellow jersey from Nurnberger rider Tixi Worrack. Barry now leads the tour by 22 seconds to Bruckner, with Worrack sitting in third at 26 seconds.
The time trial at Castenaudary is a tough course that has long false flats, rolling terrain, tricky descents, and primarily the win to contend with. The winner needs to be a good time trailer in every way to do well on this course.
After losing the yellow jersey to Worrack on day three, when the T-Mobile team couldn't chase down the young German rider, the T-Mobile girls certainly showed toay that they are determined to win this tour.

The two major favourites for the tour Lyne Bessette (Canadian National Team) and Judith Ardnt (Nurnberger) took fourth and fifth place respectively in the time trial and will have their work cut out for them to take the lead, as the T-Mobile team have certainly secure the advantage after today. There are however quite a few chances for someone to turn the tables, as the last few stages of the tour this year are the toughest.
The first Australian to finish was Sara Carrigan (Australian National) team. Carrigan won this time trial last year, but this year the results were crucial to Olympic selection. Kathy Watt, who had entered the tour primarily to do well in this time trial was penalized 10 minutes for not turning up to get her bike measured by the officials. This mistake takes away any chance she had at making the Olympic team for Australia.
