Metlushenko for the second time

Ukrainian Yuri Metlushenko has won the GP Costa degli Etruschi for the second time in his career. The Landbouwkrediet-Colnago rider finished ahead of Andus Aug (Domina Vacanze) and Crescenzo d'Amore (Acqua e Sapone) in a bunch sprint. Metlushenko also won the race in 2002.

The GP Etruschi was the first race on the Italian calendar for 2004. It was also the first race for Mario Cipollini (Domina Vacanze), who is determined to have a better season than last year. Unfortunately for the lion king, a crash with 2.5 km to go put an end to his chances in the sprint, although he escaped without too many injuries.
