First pro win for Sinkewitz

21 year old Patrik Sinkewitz (Mapei-Quick Step Espoirs) today won the Grand Prix Winterthur that took place in Switzerland. It was the German rider's first win in the two years that he has been a professional.

From the beginning, a group of five riders had the lead (Willems, Bayer, Manzoni, Atzeni, and Schwengeler). After 50 km they were caught by the field and immediately a break formed with Mapei's Sinkewitz, Cancellara, and Petrov and Swiss rider Roman Burkard (KED/SWOCK Bianchi-Fiat), which became the winning move.

Sinkewitz and Cancellara started attacking in the final 10 kilometres, giving Burkard no chance, with the end result that Sinkewitz crossed the line for the team's 34th win this year.
