Biography:

Briton Ben Turner caught the attention of his home WorldTour team Ineos Grenadiers in 2021 when riding with the Continental squad Trinity Racing. That year at age 22, he captured a stage podium at Tour Alsace, three top 10s at the U23 Giro and then won a silver medal at U23 road race nationals.

Born in Yorkshire on May 28, 1999, Turner began racing as a junior in 2016. He only spent a short time with club teams before accepting the call to Ineos and the top tier, impressing straightaway his first pro season in the Classics, which included fourth at Brabantse Pijl, eighth at Dwars door Vlaanderen and 11th at Paris-Roubaix. He was selected that fall to ride his first Grand Tour, completing the Vuelta a España with three stage top 10s, including fourth on the hilly circuits of stage 19. His immediate impact with the team saw him extend his contract through 2026.

In just his second pro season, Turner scored his first pro victory at the early-season Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia, winning from a bunch sprint ahead of Simon Clarke (Israel-Premier Tech) and Jordi Meeus (Bora-Hansgrohe). He continued the momentum with a second place at Jaén Paraiso Interior, beaten to the line by Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates).

Turner also tackled his first Tour de France in 2023, but lasted until the climbing day of stage 13 when he abandoned due to illness. While he also was a DNF for the Worlds in Glasgow, he rode the Tour of Britain and finished eighth on stage 4 to Newark-on-Trent.
