The FELT - Shimano Dream Team diary 2006

What do an Australian MTB Champion, an environmental engineer and an Austrian World Champion endurance cyclist have in common? They all ride for the FELT - Shimano Dream Team. Oh, and they are crazy for tackling the world's toughest MTB endurance race - Australia's Crocodile Trophy.

As Darren O'Grady, David Wood & Valentine Zeller battle through the bush from the Northern Territory into Far-North-Queensland, team manager Christi Valentine-Anderson will keep us up-to-date on the boys' progress.

O'Grady saved the day, won the stage, and re-energized the FELT Shimano Dream Team!

Darren O'Grady attacked the main field in the first kilometer. The South Australian then rode 60km solo until he was finally joined by two Belgian riders. The trio worked well together with O'Grady driving it along, consistently readjusting the tempo. The Dream Team's first stage win into Mount Mulgrave Station along the Mitchell River could not have been sweeter. As O'Grady sat in the tepid river drinking his second ice cold Cooper's, he nearly cried! I also had tears of happiness as this was just the relief we needed for our frustration.

Wood and Zeller finished together in the chasing group three minutes back from O'Grady.

There is going to be a big celebration in camp tonight, and we'll invite local boys Leon and Luke Kingsley to join in our festivities!
