Mike Turtur, race director comments: "The Tour returns to the terrific
location that was so successful in 2001. It created the perfect atmosphere
for the Tour start. We were very impressed with the huge crowds in attendance
and hope to see the same next year!
The circuit has been designed to be free flowing with good corners that
allow for a very fast race which is what we're after. The finishing straight
is long enough to suggest that the first rider into the straight won't
necessarily be the winner.
Stage One is very important for setting the scene for the Tour and awarding
the Jacob's Creek Leader's Jersey. We look forward to another evening
spectacle down at Glenelg which we hope will be even bigger and better
than this year"
