Stage 3 was an uphill time trial that had the effect of determining who actually was in the lead for GC. 

With Mercury winning the first two stages, the time trial seperated the three Mercury team riders and determined who actually was in the lead.  Mercury again dominated the stage taking first, second and fourth.

Second win for Neben

AutoTrader.com's Amber Neben made it two for two in the first stages of this year's Cascade Classic. The 1 kilometer time trial was short but grueling as it started in the Pilot Butte State Park and continued uphill along an access path, and then up a spiraling road to the top of Pilot Butte.

Neben completed the 1km climb in 5:33, two seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher, Stacey Peters (800.com). AutoTrader.com's Kim Smith rounded out the podium by finishing 3rd, 5 seconds behind Neben. Neben reinforced her QOM points by winning the hill climb stage and also gained a time bonus for the overall General Classification.
