Course description and profile
The second stage is held in honour of Alexander Fantini who was born
in Chieti and tragically died during the 1961 Tour of Germany. It continues
with a southerly trajectory along the coast, starting in Fossacesia (Abruzzo)
and finishing in Lucera (167 km). The stage climbs up to Vasto (km 44.1)
before descending to Vasto Marina. It then heads into Puglia, via San
Severo (km 130), gadually climbing to Lucera in order to do a finishing
lap of 10 kilometres.
The lack of climbs today make it likely that a bunch sprint will decide
the result.
