The 52-kilometre run from Cariñena to Zaragoza will be a perfect spot for the time trial specialists to stretch their legs and another opportunity for the Maillot Oro of race leader to change hands.
Samuel Sánchez referred to this first time trial saying that, "it could be a very hard task for those who come from the Tour de France because, at this point so late in the season, to confront more than 50 kilometres demands an extra effort."
The slightly downhill parcours will be shaped by the wind. There will be greater time gaps if the riders face a frontal wind and if there is a tail wind the little climbers may have a chance to salvage some time.
