Sergent, Bauer descend into Christchurch for New Zealand Road Championships
Though the memory of the earthquakes that ravaged the south island city of Christchurch are still fresh in the mind of New Zealanders, the city will get the chance to celebrate a more postive event, with a festival of cycling including the nations top professionals set to descend into the city for the RaboDirect New Zealand Road National Championships.
Jack Bauer (Garmin-Cervelo), Jesse Sergent (RadioShack-Nissan), Josh Atkins (Trek-Livestrong) and George Bennett (RadioShack-Nissan) will all be in attendance for the championships. Defending women's champion Cath Cheatley won't be riding in Christchurch due to her recovery from injury sustained late last year.

- Women's Podium Jamie Nielson (Waikato BOP), Lauren Ellis (Mid South Canterbury) and Alison Shanks (Otago)
- Sam Horgan of the Subway Pro Cycling Team trailed his team mate by 20 seconds to finish second in the 40km TT
- Fraser Gough (East Coast North Island) finish in third spot with a time of 50 minutes and 39 seconds
- Long distance Duathlon World Champion Mel Burke from Auckland competes in the women's event
- Paul Odlin (Subway Pro Cycling Team) completed the 40km circuit in a time of 49 minutes 35 seconds
- Lauren Ellis (Mid South Canterbury) completed the 25km course in a time of 35 minutes and 21 seconds to take the gold medal
