Rabobank rider gets national title

Koos Moerenhout has won the Dutch national championship in Heerlen-Langraaf, on Sunday.

In a thrilling finale Moerenhout emerged to lead home a group of six riders who finished just eleven seconds ahead of the remnants of the peloton. The Rabobank rider out-sprinted Kenny Van Hummel (Skil-Shimano) and Joost van Leijen (Van Vliet-EBH Elshof) to claim victory.

The win was Moerenhout’s second victory in the national championships in three years, after his first win in 2007. The 35-year-old also continued his trade team’s dominance of the championship, it was the fourth successive victory by a member of the Rabobank squad.
