Savoldelli faces surgery

Paolo Savoldelli (Discovery Channel) is facing the prospect of surgery to remove a saddle sore, which will effectively end his 2005 racing season. "I will be operated on to remove an annoying cyst," he told Tutto Bici. "I believe my season at the highest level is over." The Giro d'Italia winner will have to rest for a while before thinking about his future in 2006. "Right now I have to rest and recover from the season," he said. "What will happen in 2006 is still to be decided."
