Hoste DQ'd for spitting

Belgian Leif Hoste (Discovery Channel) was thrown out of the Tour de Suisse following stage 7 for spitting on a motorbike commissaire. Hoste denied that he spat, although he didn't hide the fact that he was frustrated with the commissaire in question.

Hoste's team director Dirk Demol was quoted by Het Nieuwsblad as saying, "On Wednesday, while in the peloton, Leif was brushed by a moto upon which the particular commissaire sat. In an automatic reflex, he turned and nearly hit the moto driver with a wave of his arm. Hoste was irritated because 10 kilometres before, a moto had crashed in the peloton. On Thursday, at the beginning of the stage, Hoste thanked the moto driver explicitly for his driving the day before. That was noted by the race commissaire again as...a second incidence of inappropriate behaviour, therefore an exit."
